The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is the world's single greatest collection of van Gogh's art. The Museum was opened in 1973, founded by the son of van Gogh's beloved brother, Theo. And almost immediately, it was evident that its popularity exceeded its ability to accommodate visitors. With one elevator and staircase, the building was designed to take in 60,000 visitors a year but instead it was getting one million.
In 1998 the museum was shut down for renovation and expansion to cater for the larger crowds. The following Pinterest Gallery is a sample of some of the works on display at the Museum.
