The Kiss by Gustav Klimt - 23 x 30 canvas print
The Kiss was painted by the Austrian Symbolist painter Gustav Klimt between 1907 and 1908. This is the work of Golden Period, The painting is now in the Österreichische Galerie Belvedere museum in the Belvedere palace, Vienna, and is widely considered a masterpiece of the early modern period, A perfect square, the canvas depicts a couple embracing, their bodies entwined in elaborate robes decorated in a style influenced by both linear constructs of the contemporary Art Nouveau style and the organic forms of the earlier Arts and Crafts movement. When Klimt presented the painting to the public for the first time, in 1908, it was acquired - still unfinished - directly from the exhibition by the Austrian Gallery. This painting represents the centrepiece of the world's most extensive collection of works by Gustav Klimt. It is located in the Austrian Gallery in Vienna's Upper Belvedere Palace.
